It was an honour to officiate at the Centenary Commemoration of the RMS Leinster in Dún Laoghaire, in my role as Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. I was joined by the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones.
The RMS Leinster was sunk by a torpedo from UB-123 in October 1918, before the end of World War One. Over 550 perished. It was the greatest ever loss of life in the Irish Sea. I laid a wreath on behalf of the Irish State alongside First Minister Carwyn Jones of Wales.
