On a momentous day for Irish heritage and sport, I recently announced that Hurling has achieved international recognition by UNESCO and has been inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This achievement was a result of a long campaign coordinated by my Department with the GAA.
I was delighted to be joined by local players from clubs in Dublin Rathdown for the announcement.
Hurling and camogie will now be recognised internationally as a key element of Ireland’s living heritage.
Gabhaim buíochas ó chroí leis an gCumann Luthchleas Gael agus leis an gCumann Camógaíochta as ucht an comhoibriú a rinneadh le mo roinn le déanaí chun an aitheantas EOECNA (UNESCO) seo a bhaint amach. me to your blog post.
