I am delighted to announce that the Government has allocated €1.5 million in new funding to Stillorgan Library, for a major redevelopment of a new multifunctional library building in St Lawrence’s Park. This is great news for the library’s 100,000 users and a boost for our local Stillorgan area. The funding is being provided to Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council through the Department of Rural and Community Development’s Library Capital Investment Programme.
This new investment will mean:
· A new, modern building for Stillorgan library at St Lawrence Park
· New facilities, and increased capacity that will allow the library to continue as a focal point for the community
· Enhanced access to the library for everyone in the local community
· Regeneration and investment in the St Lawrence Park area
I know the important role that the library has played in our community for the past 35 years. The current library is one of the busiest in the county but it is both old and at capacity. As a result, I am thrilled that the library will now have a new, modern home, better suited to the full range of activities expected for a modern Library.
